THROUGH 1600Z June 6th, 2025
SMOKE: Canada / Central and Eastern United States / Atlantic Ocean / Gulf of America Widespread wildfire activity persisted across central and western Canada, with active fires concentrated in the northeastern British Columbia, northern Alberta, the southern Northwest Territories, central Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and western Ontario. Areas of moderate to heavy smoke were clearly observed across portions of central Saskatchewan, central-southern Manitoba, western Ontario, and extending eastward into Southern Quebec and over the Mid-Atlantic Ocean. Light smoke continued to drift over much of the eastern U.S. and the western Atlantic Ocean, with curling behavior along the East Coast. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central-Southern Mexico/Gulf of America... An area of light density smoke and aerosols, attributed to widespread seasonal fire activity, volcanic emissions, and industrial sources throughout central and southern Mexico, was observed extending over central-southern Mexico and the Gulf of America. Dust: A light amount of Saharan Dust was seen traveling westward across the Atlantic Ocean towards the Lesser Antilles. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG:http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg Smoke data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Smoke_Polygons Fire data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Fire_Points ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
